Habits to keep for a bright future
Teaching kids about good habits is not just about staying germ-free. It also cultivates responsibility and good behavior.
Habits are actions people repeat without even realizing it. These habits have either a positive or negative consequence. This is why it is important to keep kids healthy not just through nutrition but also via lifelong good habits.
Below are 5 germ-busting rules you can teach your kids for a future that is clean and healthy:
Don’t hold your pee
Not emptying the bladder will not only cause discomfort but will also allow bacteria to multiply. This bad habit can give kids urinary health problems. Let kids know it is ok to tell teachers or parents if they need to use the toilet.
Only throw trash in the trashcan
Trash belongs in the trashcan. Throwing garbage in the toilet can clog the pipes and cause problems for sewer treatment facilities. Teach kids to dispose trash properly.
Every time, wash your hands
Washing hands with just water is not enough. Kids need to scrub away germs with soap and water after using the toilet, before eating, before leaving for school and after coming home.
Must flush the toilet
Flushing is not just about saying goodbye to waste. It is a must for a clean and stink-free space. Remind kids to close the toilet cover when flushing, too. This is to avoid the spread of tiny particles of wastes and even dangerous pathogen that can make its way to their lungs.
Extra water, please
Encourage kids to drink more water. According to a Harvard news release, “kids would feel better throughout the day and do better in school” if they are hydrated. Aim for about 6 glasses of water a day to keep kids hydrated.
It is possible to teach kids good habits. We can empower them by leading by example, positive reinforcements, and education.
Even Domex, a multi-purpose cleaner brand, recognizes the crucial role of education in instilling good values. Through the years, It has been advocating against poor sanitation in Philippine communities. Extra attention were given to schools as kids are more prone to illnesses.
In fact, in 2022, Domex launched Eskwelang Unstoppable Awards with Department of Education (DepED) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). The initiative rewards schools that promote good hygiene and ensure clean and safe toilets.
During the World Toilet Day 2023, Domex through Unilever’s volunteer program GIVES, visited Ususan Elementary School in Taguig. Its volunteers taught kids good toilet habits and encouraged them to become an unstoppable germ-busting heroes.
The future lies in the palms of a kid’s tiny hands. Teaching them good habits will foster a culture of care that will last a lifetime. For more health and cleaning tips, visit Domex’s social media page.
